Mike Aub

All Things Keys, Backing Vocals

The self proclaimed greatest 6’8” keyboardist-engineer east of the Delaware River, Mike started taking  piano lessons when he was 6, and can regularly be found as the Sunday organist for various churches in the greater South Jersey area.

More than 50 years and hundreds of gigs later (most recently with classic rock tribute band Knock One Back) Mike teamed up with Mark Tillman to form 80s Crush.

Mike loves learning new music, but arguably his greatest contribution to this band has been his continuous mentorship of drummer Jim with his curmudgeon training, all the while finding new crazy 80s t-shirts to wear.

Mike also loves getting out to dance with the audience with his keytar (with the exception of Jim who is sort of stuck, this is the calling card of this act!)

Mike brings an incredible depth of knowledge to the genre and a passion for all things original gear of the era!

Cyndi Hampton

Lead Vocals, Synthesizer, Tamborine, Melodica

As the undisputed hype queen of 80s Crush, Cyndi does not lack for a keen enthusiasm for the subject matter and musicianship! Cyndi joined 80s Crush in 2023 after answering a Craigslist ad. As a die-hard New Wave fan, she believes that dancing is non-negotiable!

She owes her love of playing music after countless hours watching her Dad and his brothers play in their own rock and roll cover band.

Fun Fact:  Prior to joining 80s Crush, Cyndi enjoyed many years of writing, performing, and recording original music in indie rock bands.

Paul Lally, HOF

Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals

Paul Lally picked up a guitar at 10 years old, found his first electric guitar at 13, and never really put it down — much to the relief (and occasional concern) of everyone around him.

Over the last 40+ years, he’s played in just about every kind of band imaginable: punk, heavy metal, and a long, committed decade in a grunge band that took distortion very seriously.

Somewhere along the way, the truth finally surfaced, his heart had always belonged to new wave. Once he found a band dedicated entirely to the genre, there's been no turning back.

Can Paul Shred? check.

 Can Paul Chunk? check.

Can Paul Rhythm? check.

Does Paul have a guitar collection problem, well, that is up for debate!

Still playing, still chasing the perfect sound and still convinced the next guitar will be the one . . . until the one after that.

Jim Peluso

Drums (analogue and electronic)

Jim Peluso joined 80s Crush in January 2025. Previously, Jim drummed for local favorite tribute band Ryptyde for nearly two decades as well as Timewarp in the 80s.

Jim has played many styles of music across his fifty years of drumming, but he really enjoys the challenge of blending acoustic drums with electronic percussion so much of 80s New Wave music often requires.

Jim subscribes to the mantra that drums don’t sound good unless you hit them hard, consistent with two of his influences John Bonham and Tony Thompson.

With a bass pedal that would make Larry Mullen Jr.  jealous, Jim's tireless energy and drive in support of the 80s Crush sound is always on display!

Equipment: Yamaha and Roland drums, Tama hardware, Zildjian and Meinl cymbals, Vic Firth sticks.

Richard Sebolt

Bass, Backing Vocals

A New Wave tribute band does not get off the ground without a stellar bass player, and Richard certainly fits that bill.

Richard has been holding down the bottom end since the days of cassette tapes and neon lights.

Now, as bassist for 80’s Crush, he delivers the iconic grooves that powered the new wave era:  tight, melodic, and always dance-ready.

Equal parts dance floor and dramatic stare into the distance, Richard brings bass lines that are catchy, cool, and just moody enough.

You will often find him along with his bandmate Paul on top of a chair, table, or ledge taking stock of the room!

Age may bring wisdom, but the bass still hits like it’s 1984!

Mark Tillman

Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Hand-held Percussion

As a life-long music connoisseur, Mark has enjoyed being part of the music scene both as a fan, a DJ, and as part of an act.

In his youth, Mark was part of the children's chorus in the opera La Boheme, and sang with his high school glee club. Not bad for an athlete that went on to play D1 and pro baseball.

We are still doing the research, but there may or may not have been an upstart band with the cryptic name H-V which performed a few times at the Lorcom Lane House in Arlington VA. Watch this space . . .

Now, as the front man and founder of 80s Crush, Mark's unmitigated enthusiasm for all things New Wave (and ska and the Manchester Sound, etc.) is readily on display!
